Freshman Nathan Tunt struck out 11 to lead Plano baseball past Earlville, Newark baseball lost to Somonauk to settle for a share of the Little Ten title and Oswego East and Newark softball won big in Thursday's Record Newspapers sports roundup.

Oswego junior Jaelynn Anthony overcame a 42-pitch first inning with three walks and a hit batter to shut out Yorkville the rest of the way, and keyed three scoring rallies in a 5-1 Panthers' win that matched the program win record set last season.

Teams from Aurora Christian, Beecher, Dwight, Earlville, Hinckley-Big Rock, Kankakee-McNamara, Lisle, Momence, Newark, Marquette, Seneca, Indian Creek, Somonauk, Westmont, Wilmington and Yorkville all competed during the Class 1A Sectional track meet on Thursday, May 15, 2025 at Seneca High School.

Sandwich defending state 3,200-meter champion Sunny Weber swept the 3,200 and 1,600 at the Class 2A Sterling Sectional, teammate Molly Russelburg recorded 2As best pole vault and Yorkville's Courtney Clabough swept the shot put and discus at the Class 3A Rock Island Sectional.

Yorkville baseball and Plano softball were both walk-off winners, Oswego East softball rode an eight-run second inning to a win and Oswego softball won big in Wednesday's Record Newspapers sports roundup.
